What is Virtual Reality?

Virtual Reality headsets are a relatively new technology, pioneered by companies such as HTC and Oculus, who offer an immersive gaming experience. Harnessing motion detection technology, the headsets allow users to physically traverse and interact with a 3D virtual environment. The player navigates the environment just as they would in the real world: by turning the head and moving the body.

Currently, the cost of the hardware required to run a premium Virtual Reality system is in excess of 2000 GBP or 2500 USD. This is where Vicinity comes in...


Safety Tips:
  • Players should be supervised by an experienced spotter, who will ensure the user does not injure him/herself.
  • It is advised that first time users initially sample VR whilst seated, before attempting standing or room-scale VR.
  • It inadvisable to experience VR whilst under the influence of any intoxicants.
  • Take regular breaks to reorient yourself physically in the play area.
  • Stay hydrated to prevent dizziness or nausea.
  • Remove all hazards from the play area, including pets.
  • Hold the controllers firmly in your hands.
  • Do not interfere with an individual while they are wearing the headset, and do not stray into the play area.
  • Be aware that whilst the player is wearing the headset, he or she will not be able to see or hear you.
